Enter decimal coordinates from your map app, or allow location access. Location access requires HTTPS or localhost in most browsers. Searches cover the area in small tiles, one request at a time, with a 5-second gap. A failed tile is retried twice (after at least 10 and 30 seconds), then the job stops. Successful tiles are saved immediately in localStorage. Reopen this same page in the same browser and click Find / resume to continue. Each tile stays fresh for 24 hours. On resume, unfinished tiles run first, followed by expired tiles. Your last searched or imported location and radius are remembered in this browser, even if a request fails. Export JSON includes the full resumable checkpoint and a distanceMeters field for every business, measured from the exported origin. Keep the tab open while collecting; browsers may slow background tabs. Coordinates are sent to public Overpass servers. Provider terms and privacy.

Only named shops, offices, crafts, amenities, tourism and healthcare places with a phone or email are included. OpenStreetMap coverage and contact details may be incomplete or outdated. Distances are straight-line estimates to mapped points or feature centers, not driving distances. Price and service information are shown only when mapped. If direct-file loading fails, run python3 -m http.server 8000 in the folder containing this file, then open http://localhost:8000/nearby-businesses.html. Public servers may be busy; failed or partial responses are never cached.
